Club history
The Russian Toy Club of America is working with the American Kennel Club to help promote and educate the public about the Russian Toy breed. Our members can be found each year at dog shows and event trials throughout the United States and beyond. If you'd like to meet some Russian Toys and their people at a dog event, club specialty show, or a meet the breed event, please contact our club secretary for more information.
2011
In the Summer of 2011 the Russian Toy Club of America merged with the Russian Toy Club of USA. We have joined together with the Russian Toy Club of USA, under the auspice of the Russian Toy Club of America, to continue the advancement of the AKC recognition of the Russian Toy.
This merger was quite a successful union of dedicated dog fanciers and it has brought unity to our dog club as well as combined breeding and exhibition experience of its members. Our club gatherings can be quite a bit of fun and also educational. Members share their knowledgeable and vision of breed type of the Russian Toy. Topics of discussion might be canine anatomy, reproduction, health, training and grooming.
2018
In 2018, the Russian Toy was approved to move into the Miscellaneous Class and was first able to participate in regular AKC conformation events. We were also designated as the parent club for the Russian Toy in AKC.
2022
In 2022, the Russian Toy was fully recognized as a breed by the AKC and was able to compete in regular conformation classes at shows.
